What Is The Right Way Of Walking Your French Bulldog In The Rain?

You must follow the below steps in order to take out your French Bulldog on a rainy day and keep it safe from cold conditions.

1 . Plan The Day Before Few Weeks

Unlike a couple of decades ago, now you can be acknowledged about a rainy day from a few weeks ago. You must plan for the day and get prepared. Going out with your Frenchie in highly adverse weather conditions is not a good idea.

You must be looking for the best day, and you can learn about that thanks to technology. Among the French owners we checked, none had not thought about this, planning the day.

The selection of the rain must be made accordingly. If your French Bulldog is less than 03 years old, we recommend the rain to be 100mm maximum. If your French Bulldog is older than that or has difficulty, the rain must be below 50mm. Also, you must consider the wind.

2 . Train Your Frenchie For The Day

French Bulldogs are sensitive creatures that can’t tolerate cold or particular conditions. You don’t want to see your Frenchie panicking on that day. We think training your Frenchie for the day will be the best answer.

All you have to do is to set a day and provide the rainy conditions for your Frenchie. You may follow your schedule and strategies, such as decreasing the temperature using your Air Conditioner, letting Frenchie feel the weather using your sounding system, and trying new outfits.

3 . Wear Rain Boots And A Raincoat For Your Frenchie

You must wear a raincoat and boots for your French Bulldogs when walking in the rain. You will find those accessories in various colors and sizes that match your Frenchie’s requirements.

Also, the harness collar is a necessity. Whether your French Bulldog is trained or not, you must keep the connection between you and the dog, as their vision may be weak on a rainy day. Also, they may face challenging conditions on a particular day.

4 . Take Your Frenchie Out And Help It To Stay Dry

Now you are ready to take your French outside. You must help your Frenchie to stay dry all the time. Although you use a raincoat and rain boots for the Bulldog, it may be fighting hard to keep the exposed parts dry. For example, the face, back, and underbelly are body parts. You may save a cloth for wiping the moisture as well.

The walk is recommended not to be a continuous one. French Bulldog owners walk their dogs up to 2km on rainy days. However, the experience is not a good one in the end. Although you may walk your Frenchie for 10-15 minutes on a typical day, we recommend you keep it below 10 minutes.

You must make a few stops on the way. Although your Frenchie is ready to go, you must give yourself some time to relax. You may use trees or buildings to stop by. Also, you must ensure other dogs on the street do not stress your Frenchie.

5 . Keep The Safety Of Your Frenchie While Walking

Safety always has to be a priority while you walk your Frenchie. You must keep the Frenchie inside the pedestrian lane while you expose yourself to the road. You must protect the Bulldog from the wind, and that wind should always go away from you.

Another concern you must pay is not allowing your Frenchies to drink rainwater. You must take water with you. Also, you must be able to prevent such an action using a command.

There can be garbage on the street as it is a rainy day. You must have trained your franchise to avoid those things too.

6 . Use Alternative Routes Necessary

The rain might have caused some adverse effects on the road, such as floods or roadblocks. You must plan for alternate routes prior to the walk.

Also, we recommend you choose a shorter route than the usual one. Since the new route will be strange for your Frenchie, it may get stressed. Therefore, you must try to stick to your regular routine.
